Due to the number of road tests conducted, you may have to wait several weeks to take your test. Please take this into consideration when you schedule your test. See more information about scheduling and taking a road test.
Reservations are now available for road tests statewide.
Please Note: We will honor all pre-licensing course completion certificates expired during the COVID-19 emergency until further notice. Customers whose road tests were canceled because of COVID-19 are being given priority for rescheduling.
Safety Requirements for Road Tests
Fully vaccinated individuals do not need to be socially distanced. Unvaccinated/unknown vaccination status individuals need to maintain six feet of social distance from other customers and staff, whenever possible.
Fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks. Unvaccinated/unknown vaccination status individuals need to wear masks, in accordance withCDC guidelines. Unvaccinated/unknown status individuals may remove their mask outdoors, unless they are unable to maintain six feet of social distancing.
Cleaning and Disinfection
Customers will need to disinfect the passenger side of the vehicle with disinfectant wipes that DMV provides upon arrival.
Have been directed to quarantine, isolate or self-monitor at home for the COVID-19 by any doctor, hospital, or health agency; or
Have been diagnosed with, or have had close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19; or have flu-like symptoms or symptoms of the coronavirus; or have traveled within 14-days of your scheduled road test to a state/country with significant community spread of COVID-19, as outlined in the New York State travel advisory.
Please note close contact does not include individuals who work in a health care setting and are wearing appropriate, required personal protective equipment (PPE).
